Party of the year... 1944-style!

One year following the creation of New York Fashion Week, Ruth Finley published the first edition of the Fashion Calendar, featuring my elbow high leather gauntlet gloves. At this time, Press Weeks were hosted alternatively at the Pierre and Plaza Hotels in New York City - no room could be rented, as they had all been previously let to members of the press. It was a momentous occasion, after all!

Journalists and fashionistas from all over the United States would flock to New York City to attend these Press Gatherings. At the time, my sensual almost elbow high gloves were in vogue, and they truly got the party started!

Now, NYFW has become so iconic that such gatherings would simply not be possible, simply due to the large attendance size. That only means that the gatherings instituted by Ellen Lambert and Ruth Finley were hugely successful, leading to fashion institutions that have withstood the test of time.
