Leather fashion faux-pas... for men: part 1

In the past, I've usually given lots of fashion "do's" and tips when it comes to wearing leather, but every so often, it's important to take a step back and thing about all of those faux pas that can get in the way of enhancing our leather elegance.

This next blog series is devoted to our male leather lovers... we love that you wear leather, but just in case, here are a few tips on how to prevent a leather fashion faux-pas.

1. Wearing too many colors with leather

I love men in leather! It draws a lot of attention, and looks very elegance and sexy. However, wearing your favorite leather pieces with too many other colors can attract unwanted attention. We want people to notice your leather style. A good rule of thumb is to pair pale clothes with pale shoes, or dark clothes with dark shoes. A splash of color is definitely not a bad thing, especially if you're wearing black leather pants... just don't overdo it.

2. Including too many patterns in your ensemble

The pairing of black leather pants and pin stripes is simply delicious! But... be careful not to include too many prints in your ensemble. Try including one pattern and a solid color: jeans, pin-striped jacket, and my man black driving gloves, perhaps??

3. Wearing too many different fabrics at the same time

One of my favorite aspects of leather wear is its versatility. The same pair of gloves can make one outfit formal and another casual. Be careful to make the distinction carefully though. A business suit and a leather t-shirt simply do not mix. A leather t-shirt and denim jeans? Simply fabulous!!

I encourage more men to head out in leather. Remember, you don't have to be a rockstar to wear leather pants! And as for leather gloves, they are warm, practical, and super sexy!
