Summer glovey etiquette

If you're like me, and your glove shelf is filled with Ines Gloves, then how can you possibly decide which gloves to wear during the day? An easy answer is to match your gloves to the coat or ensemble you put together, but ladies' etiquette is much more specific...

  • when attending a summer party or a social event during the day, wear a brightly-colored, fun glove with a unique design. I am a big fan of coquettish leather gloves, a happy twist on the glace glove and available in uplifting colors all made from the softest Italian leather.

  • are you spending the day sightseeing or visiting the theatre amidst the bustle of a new city? Then put on a pair of short leather gloves with a dainty pearl for the occasion! This elegant glove is perfect for attending an upscale event, complemented by the sweet pearl attached to the wrist. This glove simply whispers "elegance"...

  • looking for something casual? Well, a pair of extremely long black leather gloves will undoubtedly fit the bill! These gloves are truly unique, and can easily be worn on a casual afternoon or with an evening gown. You decide...

  • and what wardrobe can be complete without a pair of driving gloves? Summer or winter, Ines has a style to suit your driving needs. Might I recommend a unique pair of fingerless fashion driving gloves? These are stylish and practical, without making your hands too warm in mild weather. If you need a cool weather alternative, these gloves come in the original driving glove design.

As we all know, quality reigns supreme, even in the glovey world. As such, gloves should fit like a second skin without being too tight, and are most elegant when made from kidskin leather. A smart pair of leather gloves look their best when in a neutral color and a classic style. At Ines, we have gloves to suit every purpose, every style, and every elegance...

Hand Care and Protection

Take care of your hands!

Look at your hands now and tell yourself what you see?

Beautiful and gorgeous hands are so important.
Hands tell everything about yourself, how you live your life and love your body.
They say that hands give a woman's age away, well so what!
But gorgeous hands are the carriers of your personality, no matter in what situation and age you are.

You may wear fancy designer clothes; imagine the negative effects if you combine these fancy clothes with abandoned hands.
Look around you and see how hands are the centre of communication.
At a party, or even a job interview, your hands are your business card.

Your hands are the ultimate tool invented ever, but you don’t realize how important these tools are. You just use them all day:
shaking hands, cooking, doing your hair, feel, touch, work, write.
Endless, think about this for a second.

Hand care and protection with leather gloves

And decide now, no matter what your age is, to treat them as your treasure.

  • The skin of the hand is so thin, protect the skin.
  • Pamper your hands with your personal handlotion, 4 times a day.
  • Exfoliate once a week with a face exfoliater.
  • Use once a week your face nightcream also on your hands before you go to sleep.
  • Get accustomed to using rubber gloves whenever you do housework.
  • Prevent your hands from aging or abusing.
  • Protect your hands from dry weather as well as protecting them from the sun.
  • Use daily a protective barrier.
  • Wearing fine well made quality leather gloves could help too!

In other words:
The best way to take care of your hands is to protect them.

Take care,

Ines

Invite Ines Gloves (& Vera Wang) to your special day...your wedding

Wow! Vera Wang is known for her graceful gowns, but her vision for spring brides is simply stunning. Beautiful black leather gloves begin to grace the bridal runways... and with that in mind, let us look closer at how to make Ines Gloves part of your very special day...

This silk, plunging, v-neck gown pairs perfectly with glossy extra long leather gloves. The elegance of these beautiful leather gloves works so well with the silky sheen of the fabric and the elegant, timeless simplicity of the dress' silhouette. Exactly what our intention is with Ines...

Princesses everywhere, look out! The dress looks like something out of a fairytale, with yards of fabric, sweetheart neckline, and elegant rounded top long leather gloves.

Oh-so-sexy shoulders is the theme for these dresses. The cut of the crew-cut bodice (on right, above) and the unique sweetheart neckline (on left, above) complement the elongated shoulder high leather gloves, leaving just enough bare skin to keep things interesting. A true sense of mystery and sensuality...

In this look, a frothy lace shirt is used to soften the v-shaped neckline. A sleeveless wedding dress is the perfect way to complement sky-high glossy long leather gloves.

Stay tuned for more beautiful ways to incorporate Ines Gloves into your special day....

Caring for the Ines glove

Many people think that caring leather gloves is complicated and time-consuming. Great news... it's not at all!

So many people would rather avoid purchasing a high-quality fashion accessory rather risk having it ruined by the elements. However, some bad weather, oil spots, and mud stains can easily be avoided with a few tips... enjoy!

Proper care of your cashmere-lined glace gloves essentially begins with regular brushing. As long as you never experience any fashion mishaps, this is likely going to be the most important and one of the only maintenance regimen's you will need to follow. Brushing helps to remove dust and debris, and keeps your Ines leather looking as fresh and as new as ever!

Simply put, water and leather just don't mix. In the event that you do get your favourite pair of Ines Gloves wet, make sure to pat the leather dry. Then, they will be clean and ready to wear another day!

Spraying your favourite Ines Gloves with leather conditioner is perhaps the best way to protect your investment in fashion. However, a word of caution: some water-repellents can alter the colour of lighter leather items, so test your chosen product on a small area first.

Let's face it... scuffs, discolourations, and stains are going to happen to your loved leather Ines Gloves. Though you might think it is easy to repair these mishaps yourself, sometimes it is best to leave it to a professional. A local leather repair store should be more than capable of bringing your gloves back to life... allowing them to bring joy for another day!

Leather can become misshapen in humid and excessively warm weather. Once this happens, it can be extremely difficult (if not impossible) to correct. This can easily be avoided by choosing to store your favourite Ines Gloves in a cool, dry place, such as an antique glove box (shown above), and laid out flat to avoid unwanted and undesirable creases.

You read it right... for those unsightly scuffs and mild dirt on your favourite Ines Gloves, look no further than your pencil!

A clean, white pencil eraser is an excellent tool for removing scuffs from your gloves. Just run it lightly and gently over the stain, and watch your eraser work its magic!

Though brushing, conditioning, and caring for your favorite Ines Gloves helps to prolong the life of these unique and beautiful gloves, avoid exposing them continuously to bright light. This can cause your gloves to fade, and make them look less indulgent.

To avoid this fashion disaster, store your gloves in a cool, dark area to keep them looking beautiful for a lifetime!

Choosing Ines Gloves for your wedding

Your wedding is undoubtedly one of the most important and memorable days in your entire life. So much decision-making is involved... let me take some of the guesswork out of it by providing some useful advice on pairing your favorite Ines Gloves with your personal style of wedding dress.

Short glace gloves

Wrist-length glace gloves were in vogue in the 1950s and 1960s. White- and cream-coloured gloves were the most popular shades to wear on your wedding day. At that time, such gloves showed a young lady of proper breeding. Today, however, more and brighter colors are appearing at the altar!

Short, every day glace gloves function best with a vintage-style wedding dress, no longer than tea length (falling several inches above the ankle).

It's your wedding day, and the spotlight is all on you! Choose your leather wedding gloves to define your own personal style....

Elbow-length gloves

Whether in white or black, elbow-length leather gloves will add a touch of elegance and femininity to your wedding day look. Cashmere-lined glace gloves look very dramatic when worn with a flowy, feminine wedding dress made from organza, charmeuse, or tulle. Simply stunning!

Opera-length gloves first made their dramatic appearance in the pre-World War 1 era, and quickly became a symbol of feminine elegance. As this glovey trend caught on, necklines plunged, the sleeves of evening gowns grew shorter, and the gloves grew delightfully longer!

Before you slip into a pair of shoulder-high leather gloves, there are certain rules of etiquette that apply.

Black shoulder-high gloves

Black leather gloves are extremely elegant, with a hint of sensuality. They are slimming, and are perhaps best for highlighting the feminine contours of the hands and arms, especially when paired with your wedding dress. Yes, black is bold... but a strapless, contemporary, and chic wedding dress with a pair of long leather stretch gloves will stun your guests and make for a superb wedding day (or night) look.

White is probably the most popular color to be associated with weddings. It's perfectly elegant and beautiful... can you really pair a white leather glove with a white wedding dress?? With Ines, of course, you can! If you would rather not, we have just the glove for you!

Round top shoulder-high gloves

Rounded top long leather gloves are the perfect glove for adding a touch of feminine elegance to your wedding day look. The rounded cuff of this glove is very delicate, while the thin, fitted kidskin leather looks graceful on anyone. These gloves are available in a nude color, which would only just offset the white of your wedding dress. Try these gloves with a simple gown... let these graceful gloves speak for themselves!

Spring trends for the fashionable man

Denim was a popular fabric several years ago, and has now been rejuvenated in a very modern, yet classic way, particularly for the stylish man.

Gone are the days of the traditional suit and tie. Now, grab some faded denim pants and patterned blazer, throw in peccary leather glace gloves, and you have the perfect ensemble for a spring afternoon!

A mix of natural materials complement perfectly to create a rugged, yet refined look. Classic glace leather gloves quite literally complement anything, and are the Ines Glove most suited to a warm spring afternoon in Canada.

Mix and match denim and leather this spring, as it becomes our go-to fabric of the season!

Ways to make your leather wow!!!

Summer may seem as though it's far away, but it is just around the corner! As such, let's take a sneak peek at summer trends for leather...

The summer is a hot season, so ramp up the temperature with a sensual leather dress! This makes for a beautiful evening look... a romantic dinner, dancing the night away at a posh club, or snuggling at home... pair your elegant leather dress with sensual shoulder high gloves for the ultimate in leather high fashion.

No matter which of the leather and fabulous looks you choose, have fun this summer with leather clothing. Choose unlined, lambskin leather for the softest feel and the most luxurious elegance ever!

You might think that wearing leather gloves in the heat of the summer is a foolish idea, but I am the first to tell you that Ines has designed her special gloves with practicality in mind... several of her glove styles are unlined to minimize the warmth they retain and most importantly, wearing a pair of gloves can protect your skin from the drying effects of the sun. Finally, it is important to note that our evenings have been cool, which favours a pair of gloves!

Which brings me to my overall point... for the summer, be daring and swap your cotton white t-shirt for a luxurious leather one. Leather shirts are the perfect way to introduce a classy, daytime or night-time look. Black leather is undoubtedly very versatile, but to celebrate summer, experiment with a variety of colors! For our men of leather this summer, a pair of unlined glace gloves for men is just the accessory you need!

The leather harness vest is a playfully delightful way to add leather to your ensemble this summer! Dress up a flowy chiffon skirt with a vest - a mix of edgy rocker chic and feminine charm. Add a pair of happy knot gloves for a classic look that is sure to please.

Sophia Loren in 1960

Sophia Loren; born Sofia Villani Scicolone , 20 September 1934) is an Italian film actress.
She began her career at age 14 after entering a beauty pageant in 1949. Encouraged to enroll in acting lessons,

Loren appeared in several bit parts and minor roles until the late 1950s when Loren's five-picture contract with Paramount launched her international career. Notable film appearances around this time include Houseboat, That Kind of Woman, and It Started in Naples.

Her talents as an actress were not recognized until her performance as Cesira in Vittorio De Sica's Two Women; Loren's performance earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1962 and made her the first artist to win an Oscar for a foreign-language performance.DeMille Award for lifetime achievements, one of many such awards.

This picture was taken in 1960, the time elegance came first! Always Gloves!

what can we do with our used, tired gloves?

We've all been there... it is a sad day when our favorite pair of gloves becomes worn out. But what can we do with our used, tired gloves? If you're like me, then you simply cannot part with a beautiful pair of Ines leather gloves. Hmm... what to do?

One option is to "in-vest" in an article of clothing! Breathe new life into your long leather gloves by putting them together to form a unique piece of clothing or a leather accessory. Wallets and glovey purses are always an option, but if you want to think outside the glove, then a glove vest will do!
When it comes to thin, unlined glace gloves that have worn out their welcome on your hands, have some fun to create a pair of gloves for another part of your body!

It is truly a shame to simply throw away such a beautiful luxury, so why not pay homage to the glove by injecting some creativity....
Contribute to a new fashion accessory... the delightful leather collar. If you are feeling stylishly bold, take your favorite gloves and carefully layer them around your neck.
Though your hands may have worn out your gloves, they will continue to last a lifetime while adding a new flavor to your ensemble.

Ines' tips for softer hands

I have heard from at least 2 generations of women before me (my grandmother and my mother) that your hands will always tell your true age. Regardless of the money spent on rejuvenation products and makeup tricks, there are several important rules to follow in order to take care of your hands.

Wearing gloves is perhaps one of the most important ways to keep your hands soft and looking their best.

As soon as summer ends and autumn rolls in, I will place a pair of silk-lined long leather gloves in my handbag for easy use. It may seem a tad premature, but cool or cold air can induce dryness in your skin, making your hands appear rough and cracked. Gloves simply become mandatory during the winter! Fortunately, Ines Gloves has so many beautiful leather gloves to choose from, making glove wearing fun instead of feeling like an obligation.

Fashion aside, rubber gloves are imperative when housecleaning. Most cleaning products are damaging to the skin, even causing serious burns. They may not look the greatest, but their use will ensure that your hands remain soft for a lifetime.

Visit the Ines Gloves' gloveshop to browse her entire collection of hand-friendly, lovely leather gloves to keep you and your hands smiling!

Smooth skin can also come from excellent and frequent hydration. Current literature recommends drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily... admittedly, I can't seem to find the desire to drink even one! However, flavoured or carbonated water is a good alternative. Does my morning coffee count???

Another option is to have a beverage close by throughout the day, just to encourage you to sip a bit more. Grab that to-go mug of coffee with your newest pair of short glace leather gloves and off you go to achieve hydration and softer skin!

Outer hydration is just as important (if not moreso) than inner hydration when it comes to keeping your hands soft.

Though we all tend to carry moisturiser with us each day and use it generously, it is important to limit the numerous of times you apply. Your hands, like you, need a break every once in a while. They become accustomed to the heavy quantities of moisturiser that you are providing them. As a result, your hands will eventually stop protecting themselves.

Twice daily is the magic rule when it comes to moisturisers - once in the morning and then again in the evening before heading to bed. As much as I would love to moisturise and then wear my favorite classic glace leather gloves while sleeping, wearing cotton gloves may be slightly more practical.

Hot water is not good for your skin, as it has an overall drying effect, as it does on your favorite Ines Gloves. Just like leather gloves, hot water makes your dry skin crave additional moisture.

When you wash your hands, use warm water with soft, moisturising soap. And when you notice that your cashmere-lined glace gloves are not as soft and supple as they used to be, a leather conditioner can be applied to soften the hide.

When simple moisturising doesn't do the trick, cotton gloves can be used as a means of locking in moisture overnight, while you're sound asleep.

You will awaken with the softest, smoothest hands ever! Silky smooth, healthy, and luxurious...

... much like Ines' classic glace leather gloves for everyday! These gloves keep your hands looking beautiful during the day, while your cotton gloves take over at night.

True beauty, all day long!

The importance of sunscreen in protecting our skin from ultraviolet light is well-known. However, I would be willing to bet that the majority of us do not apply it directly on to our hands (or we at least do it by happenstance).

As you undoubtedly know, sun has a very drying effect on the skin, which works against having soft hands!

If you would rather avoid the greasy, oily sensation of sunscreen on your hands, your alternative is easy!! Try a pair of half scoop gloves in a bright, sunny colour!
